Current Horses
Blondie

Available

Blondie is a registered Tennessee Walker. His registered name is Born
to Command and he is by A Command Performance and out of Mack
K's Mistress. He is 14 years old and 18.0. Blondie was a Mounted
Sheriff horse, and then became a US Park Police horse in the bay area.
He was retired due to a pretty severe infection in his right rear leg. He
was treated with a heavy dose of antibiotics, injections and wrapping
and the infection has cleared up, though it did leave a few scars, and
his leg is still a little swollen. The vet feels that his lymph system in
this area is damaged and will not allow the leg to drain completely.
Blondie is sound and is in no discomfort from this at all. He is also a
little stiff from the onset of arthritis in the front, but the more he
moves, the better he is. He is currently on LMF senior and grassy
alfalfa. Blondie is very well broke and very quiet. He would make a
wonderful horse for a rider who wanted a weekend type trail horse.
Blondie is very sweet and has tons of personality. He is currently being
fostered in Shingle Springs

Quest

Available

Quest is a 22 year old QH gelding that is suffering from the effects of
neglect. He has chronic laminitis, is severely underweight, and his feet
were badly neglected. Our wonderful farrier and vet have both been
working on this guy and Dr. Bravos has stated that his prognosis is
very good. He does need X-rays of his coffin bones to determine the
amount of rotation and any other injuries and to show us how to
proceed with shoes and pads. These run about $200.00, plus the
additional farrier care will be about $100.00. With Quest's bills already
reaching over $300.00, he needs sponsors badly! You can donate
directly to us or to Dr. Bravos. You can also donate grass hay, corn oil
and rice bran to Quest to help him regain his weight.  Any amount will
help! Quest is such a kind, sweet, gentle horse, and his faith and trust
in humans, despite being so badly neglected, is truly remarkable! We
have no doubt that he will make an excellent beginner's mount when
he is healed. Please help Quest if you can.

Update~
Quest was seen this evening by our vet and had x-rays. He did not
founder, he does have ringbone though. He needs to be trimmed
correctly and shod with ringbone shoes. Our vet feels he will be great
for light riding. He needs to continue to put on weight before we can
evaluate his riding ability.

Update~
Quest has gained all his weight and is doing well. Quest is still quite
stiff and will not ever be able to be ridden. He is not in pain, and will
make a wonderful companion. He is sweet and gentle with all horses.
Stands perfectly for the farrier, loves to be groomed, and adores
children. Quest is being fostered in Shingle Springs

Babygirl

APHA Jamiejo Robin

Available

~JD Acres cannot say thank you enough to everyone who helped
in the rescue of this mare~

Babygirl is a blind 20 yr old registered APHA mare (working on getting
her papers).  She was donated to us when her current owners were
evicted and unable to care for her. She is emaciated right now, has a
vaginal infection, and in desperate need of a dental and hoof care. She
has an appointment with Dr. Bravos tues to get her teeth done and get
antibiotics, and will see our farrier tomorrow for a much needed trim.
Babygirl is blind, but gets around quite well. She has been ridden by
children in the arena and will make an excellent leadline horse. She is
one of the sweetest mares we have ever met. Check back for updates
on her.

Update~
Babygirl had her teeth done and had two HUGE teeth removed. She is
feeling much better and gaining a ton of weight. She should be
available for her new home within the next month or so.

Update~
Babygirl is doing wonderful. She is back to her normal weight, looks
slick and healthy and is ready for her new home. Babygirl is sound and
would do best as a leadline, arena, or companion horse. Baby Girl and
Charlie have bonded, and Charlie has become her seeing eye horse.
They now live together in a 10 acre private pasture.

Adoption fee $500.00

Charlie

Needs Sponsor

Charlie is a VERY emaciated, 20+ 15.3 palomino gelding. Charlie has
suffered serious neglect, and we hope to be able to save him. Sadly,
the pictures above make him appear fatter then he is. He has a very
rough, dense coat due to malnutrition. We are starting him slowly on
alfalfa and senior pellets, and working closely with our vet to save his
life. Please keep your fingers crossed this guy will pull through.

Update~ Charlie is doing much better! He is bright and alert and not
laying down at all. He saw our farrier today and stood perfectly. He
has so far shown perfect ground manners. We turned him out for a
little while and he trotted off sound! We are very hopeful he will pull
through, and become a great horse!

Update~ Charlie had a dental today and is recovering well. He had
some massive hooks and waves. We are hoping he should be able to
eat better now and gain weight.

Update~ Charlie is still very slowly gaining weight. We have had blood
panels and several tests run to see if there is any medical reason he is
so slow to gain weight. He does have a grade 5 heart murmur, but he
is otherwise healthy. He is bright and alert and happy to run around.
His coat is gleaming and healthy, and he is back to acting like a normal
horse. Charlie was starved for so long that he may never return to a
normal weight. Charlie has bonded with Baby Girl and has become her
seeing eye horse. They now live together in a private 10 acre pasture.
If you would like to sponsor Charlie, please contact us.

Pierre

In Rehab

Pierre is an imported 10 yr old Selle Francais gelding. His registered
name is J'ai Deux Amours II. Pierre is by Surcouf De Revel , a
famous show jumping champion, who is by the famed Jalisco B.
Pierre is out of a TB mare, Miss Moonly. He has some issues with
back pain, but has fabulous hunter training, and has trail experience as
well. He is a gorgeous horse! He has an appointment, along with Sam
on Feb 14th for a back ultrasound with Dr. Gillis. We hope to figure
out the exact cause of his pain and move forward with a treatment
plan to make him more comfortable for riding.

Update~ Pierre had his ultrasound with the fabulous Dr. Gillis and we
are thrilled! Pierre has significant ligament damage stemming from an
old L5 fracture, but with 6 weeks stall rest, and a slow return to work,
she feels he will back to 100%.

Update~ Pierre is now being slowly started back to work, and is going
to be in a 2-3 month case study with Kylee Roe of Performance
Therapy. Pierre should be available for adoption late June or July.

Update~ Pierre is coming back to work very nicely. He is a very well
trained hunter. He is pretty bombproof on trail, and easy to ride. Pierre
has excellent ground manners, is great for tacking up and mounting
and is just a love. Pierre will probably be best suited for flat
work/dressage and trail. We don't know if he will be able to return to
jumping yet, but if he does, it will be 2'6 and under. Pierre is a
gorgeous mover, with a very hunter way of going. Click
here for a
short video.

Oddie

Adoption
Pending
Oddie is a 20 yr old 15.2 tattooed QH gelding. We are trying to find his
exact age from his tattoo. Oddie has suffered serious neglect and is
very emaciated. He has an abscess in his mouth, and surely needs a
major dental. Oddie is currently sound and was said to have run
barrels in the past. He is a kind and gentle horse. We are working with
our vet to save him.

Update~ Oddie had a dental with Dr. Bravos, and is recovering well.
We hope he will return to a normal weight within 6 weeks or so.

Update~ Oddie has gained all his weight back. He has a puppy dog
personality and loves attention. Oddie has impeccable ground manners.
He clips, ties, bathes, trailers, and stands great for the farrier and vet.
He is perfect for tacking up as well. Oddie was a barrel racer
previously, and a teenagers trail horse.  He needs an intermediate or
above rider, as he knows his job well and likes to run. He loves other
horses and is great in a stall with turnout or pasture. Oddie is sound,
barefoot and UTD on all shots, de-worming and farrier care.

Update~ We took Oddie out on trail this weekend and he was
fabulous. He walked calmly on a loose rein, led and followed and
wasn't at all spooky. We rode on trail and on the streets. He was fine
with barking dogs charging at fences, cars, and motorcycles. He is
also great alone and isn't barn sour or herdbound at all. Oddie is
currently being ridden 1-2 times per week.

Update~ Oddie went on a 4 hour trail ride to Gibson Ranch and was
fabulous. He walked and trotted in the creek, passed cars, people,
other horses, kids, dogs, ect and was wonderful. He did not spook at
all and was just a pleasure to ride.

Silver Dapple Apple

Available

Apple is one of 5 ponies we took in from El Dorado A.C from the
Somerset seizure. Apple is a 42 inch Miniature horse . She is 10 years
old. Apple has some loss of vision in her left eye from a previous bout
of uveitis that was left untreated and has now scarred her eye. She can
still see shadows, and movement, and isn't spooky on that side at all.
The ponies are still shy, but sweet. Apple is pretty good with her feet,
and loaded pretty quickly. We will evaluate them further once they
settle in. They are all UTD on farrier and vet care, and just had a full
dental. We have been told all the ponies are registered, and the
previous owner is working on getting us the papers.

Update~ Apple is very sweet, but still a little shy. She is hard to catch
without grain, but with it comes right up to you. Once she is haltered,
she is easy to work with. She was decent for our farrier, but needs a
little patience. We tied her today, fly sprayed her, brushed her body
and mane and tail, and she was excellent with her feet. We took her on
a little walk down the street and she was fabulous. Not spooky, very
calm and she loves the attention. With a little patience, she will be a
great little pony.

Update~ Apple is much easier to catch now and we do not need to
have grain to do so. She does lunge as well, so she may be broke to
cart. She is super sweet and loves attention and nickers at anybody
who walks by.

Adoption Fee $450.00

Wild Thing

Available

Spots is one of 5 ponies we took in from El Dorado A.C from the
Somerset seizure. Spots is a 44 inch Miniature horse  She is 10 years
old. Spots is the tallest of the ponies and has one blue eye. The ponies
are still shy, but sweet. Spots is pretty good with her feet, and loaded
pretty quickly. We will evaluate them further once they settle in. They
are all UTD on farrier and vet care, and just had a full dental. Spots
does appear a little pregnant, and the other two ponies currently in
foster care were stallions, so we just sent out blood work to check for
pregnancy. We have been told all the ponies are registered and the
previous owner is working on getting us the papers.

Update~ The blood results are in and thankfully none of the mini's are
pregnant. Spots is getting more friendly and trusting everyday and
should be ready for her new home shortly.

Update~ Spots is coming around very nicely. She was great for our
farrier and was wonderful today. She is still hard to catch without
grain, but easy with it. We tied her, and groomed her, brushed her
mane and tail, fly sprayed her and took her for a little walk down the
street. She was a very good girl, not spooky and happy to be out. She
would make a lovely cart pony. Her feet were pretty bad, so she is still
a little sore and will need a few more trims to get back to normal.

Update~ Spots is now being fostered in Loomis. She is being loved
daily by children and really coming out of her shell. Spots has been
walked daily and is now very friendly and sweet. She is no longer hard
to catch, and has been wonderful with the children. She has also had a
child on her back while being led around and was great.

Whinnie is a BLM mustang pony. She is 13.2 and coming 3 years
old. She has had all her ground training, and has worn a saddle
and bridle and had someone lay over her, but is not broke. She is
a sweet, curious filly with huge potential. Not to mention, she is
cute as a button! Whinnie will make a wonderful child's horse
with training.

Update~ Whinnie is going to training for 30 days with a trainer in
Plymouth. She should be back at the end of March.

Update~ Whinnie has come back from training and is now
available for adoption. She had 30 days ground training, and has
worn a saddle and bridle and has been backed. She is ready for
further training. She trailers, ties, bathes, lunges, stands for the
farrier, and tacks up. She can be a bit pushy at times and needs
to be reminded of her manners. Whinnie is sweet, brave filly who
will make someone a wonderful horse with further training

Update~ Whinnie has 5 rides now and is going so well under
saddle. She has a great whoa and back, and we are working on
steering and leg pressure. She has been ponied many times and
we will take her a on short trail ride this weekend. Whinnie is so
level headed and has such a wonderful temperament and mind,
that working with her is just a breeze. Her adoption fee may
increase with further training.

Walter

Available

Walter is a 23 yr old 16.2 TB gelding. He is very sweet and loves
to nuzzle your face. He is a thinner built TB, but is in excellent
health for his age, and is barefoot. He is 23 going on 3! He has
been pampered most his life, and is looking for a home to
continue that standard of care. Walter is very well trained, and
loves to jump. He is not a trail horse. Walter can be somewhat
hot at times, and will require an intermediate rider or above, but
he is never dangerous. No buck, rear or kick. He is a typical TB.
Walter prefers pasture, or a large paddock with a buddy. We will
ride Walter next weekend once he settles in. He is sound, UTD
on all shots, de-worming and dental care.

Update~ Walter is a very forward horse and will require an upper
intermediate rider or above. He is somewhat hard mouthed, but is
well trained. He loves to jump and has tons of energy and could
go all day. He has nice movement and a wonderful canter. He is
very sweet and loves one on one attention. Walter is the first one
up to us in the pasture.
He has decent ground manners and respects your space. Walter
is very sound and in very good shape for his age, no one who
see's him believes he is 23!
Walter is looking for his next human to bond with.

Update~ Walter is doing extremely well and is walking and
trotting on a loose rein. He has really calmed down and is not
nearly as forward. He has a lovely trot and canter. Walter would
be a lovely arena horse for an upper confident beginner with a
trainer or an intermediate rider. Walter is well trained and has alot
to teach someone.

Adoption fee $500.00

Rose

Under Evaluation

Rose is a 20 yr old  registered OTTB 16.2 mare. We do have her
papers. She is absolutely gorgeous and very WB built. She has
been a broodmare and a trail mare for many years. Her owner
also used her to pony her babies on trail. Rose is very sweet, and
has a great mind. She seems to be very easy going and patient.
She is sound, healthy and UTD on all shots and de-worming.
Rose is also scheduled for a dental with Dr. Bravos on tues. Rose
prefers to be in pasture, and needs to stay on a 6 week farrier
schedule. We will take her on a trail ride this weekend.

Update~ We rode Rose today and she was lovely. She is a little
fidgety when tied, and we lunged her before we rode her, but she
was excellent. We took her through a field, and also on streets
and she did perfect. No spook, led or followed and was just a
nice, very well behaved mare. She is more of the slow, pokey
type on trail, but is very willing to move out if asked. She is in
full blown heat right now, and was still a calm, well behaved girl.

Pete

Under Evaluation

Pete is a registered 9 yr old AQHA gelding. His registered name is
Flashyer Sweet Stuff, and he is out of Zippin Bonanza Flash and
by Sweet Tresa. His foal date is 4/4/99. We do have his papers.
Pete is a big boy at about 15.3. He is sound and barefoot. Pete
was used as a beginner lesson and trail horse, however his owner
stated that he acts a little dull in the arena. He is sweet and likes
attention. We will evaluate him under saddle as soon as he settles
in.

Update~ Pete is a very sweet horse who loves attention. He has
great ground manners as well. He has had alot of training in the
past, and possibly some reining training as well. He slide stops
and spins. He is a little arena sour, and we are working with him
on that issue. He was lovely on trail by himself. He wasn't
spooky at all and was happy to move out. He can act a little lazy
and deadsided, but we believe that may be due to his lesson horse
days. We will update further next weekend with additional pics as
well.

Update~ Pete has some lovely training, but will require an
intermediate rider or above. He can be stubborn and lazy. He was
very good about ponying Whinnie, and really showed some of his
training. He can walk to canter, does flying changes, and has a
great whoa. He was very well mannered on the trail as well. He is
very slow, and has a nice slow jog and lope. He will move out if
asked, but does require alot of leg. Pete definitely has some very
nice training under his belt, but is a little rusty and will test you at
first to see how hard you really want him to work.

has shown excellent ground manners with us.

Update~ Bridgette also received a dental today and had one
extraction. She is recovering well and should return to her normal
weight in a few weeks.

Update~ Bridgette is almost back to her full normal weight and is
doing great. We rode her today and she was a little rusty, but
overall a very good girl. She stands perfectly for tacking up and
mounting. She has a good whoa and really comfy trot. She does
neck rein, but speeds up if you do not keep a little contact. We
will ride her again on trail next weekend.

will lead but prefers to follow, crossed water, a ditch and happily

pressure with ease. She would be perfect for a confident child,
or small adult. . She is best suited for a trail home. Bridgette is

ties, bathes, trailers and is excellent for the vet and farrier. She is

foal date is 4/16/04. Raven is out of TLC Outlaw Princess, a

He is a very sweet, curious, in your pocket type of gelding. He
isn't spooky and is very sensible. He loves pasture and playing
with other horses. He has great ground manners and is very
respectful. Raven does have a severe parrot mouth and will need
yearly dental care for the rest of his life. He has great front feet,
and is barefoot right now, but will most likely require hind shoes
when put into work due to the way he wears down his right
hind. Raven has gorgeous movement and would make a lovely
dressage mount, or would also do well as a trail horse. He has
mane and tail to die for!
