FAQ'S
Below is a list of frequently asked questions. Please take a moment to review
them, as many of your questions will be answered here. If you do not see your
question here, please send us an email on the "Contact Us" page.
Q~ I am interested in viewing a horse you have available, what's the next step?

A~ Please complete an adoption application located on our 'Forms" page. Once you are approved to adopt, we
will contact you set an appointment to come meet the horse you are interested in.

Q~ What are the basic requirements for adopting an equine from JD Acres?

A~ You must have at least 3 references, and 2 professional references, i.e. veterinarian, farrier, trainer,
boarding facility etc. You may never have been convicted of an animal cruelty crime. You must have horse safe
fencing with some sort of shelter (can be a run in, tree's etc).

Q~ Are the available horses "first come, first serve"?

A~ No. We will adopt an equine to the best matched home available. We reserve the right to deny any equine
to any applicant without an explanation (though we always try and provide one).

Q~How are your adoption fee's determined and are they negotiable?

A~ Our adoption fee's are based on the age, training, soundness, and maintenance issues. Thus a younger
horse with less training, or more physical or mental issues may be less than an older horse with less
limitations and more training. All horses will be current on vaccinations, dental care, de-worming, and farrier
care prior to being adopted. In addition, all of our ride-able horses are evaluated under saddle by our trainer,
and will receive additional training as required. Our adoption fee's are not negotiable.

Q~ I want to donate my equine, what do I do?

A~ Please contact us with the following information; age, breed, sex, height, training, health issues, training
issues, stabling requirements i.e needs stall, or can be in pasture with other horses, why you need to donate
your horse, and any other pertinent information. We will let you know if we can accept your equine and make
arrangements for him/her to be dropped off. We will also send you the paperwork that needs to be filled out.

Please be honest! We understand that donating your horse may be difficult, but we need to know everything
about your horse to make sure everyone involved is safe, including your horse. If you knowingly
misrepresent your equine and someone is injured directly due to your misrepresentation, you will be held
liable.

Q~ Is transportation available?

A~ Yes, transportation is available. If within Sacramento County, transportation is available for .90 per mile. If
outside of Sacramento county, email for a quote. We use several different haulers, and can usually locate
reasonably priced transportation.
